一代词人李清照 Well-known Ancient Chinese Woman Poet Li Qingzhao

If you would like to learn traditional Chinese aesthetics, you might need to start from study and research of 李清照 Li3 Qing1 Zhao4's poems, or 词 ci2, accurately speaking. 李清照 used many colorful wording in her poems, particularly when she's young by living a full joy of life with her husband, during which her production and achievement of poems has reached the peak.

李清照 is a very visualized young lady, pretty and versatile. Before her marriage at 18 years old, she's already very capable of 琴棋书画 (referring to my previous post). Her father told her mother, seeing her such capable, that he wished she could be born to a boy, then a man, to be able to fully contribute her talent and skills to country, further, to protect the nation during the wartime.

I, personally, consider 李清照 is a master of traditional Chinese aesthetics. In her poems, she mainly adopted two methods to show the beauty: wording in color, and wording in motion, act, gesture and pose of a young lady. Since she's very able in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy, she's effortlessly to mix the color naturally into her poems. When read her poems, you seemed read and see and hear the color and sound, besides emotion and meaning. You seemed feel a modern effect of multimedia hidden in those poems.

In her poetry, 李清照 accurately depicted a spoiled, pretty, wealthy and brilliant young lady's happy life, till her lonely and painful old age which was, the mirror of 李清照's own life. She's particularly good at portraying Chinese woman's psychology and amorous feelings toward the man in general. You seemed to be able to see, in her poems, a young lady's 欲据还迎 attitute whenever meet a man. 欲据还迎 yu4 ju4 hai2 ying2, literally and meaning "pretending refuse acctually would love to welcome". This idiom has typically described a Chinese woman's act when dealing with man and woman's relationship, in an indirect and implicit gesture and psychology, from ancient era.

舒淇 Hsu Chi - Well-known China Taiwanese Actress on Screen

舒淇 Hsu Chi (pinyin Shu1 Qi2), current well-known China Taiwanese actress on screen. She has a very nice figure even she's not considered beautiful in Chinese film industry. I believe human being's body is the most beautiful creation by the universe, if you are lucky enough to have a nice one. It does not hurt to show off a little bit like 舒淇's here sometimes when you are in beach or pose for photographer conditionally.

I think 舒淇 is a smart girl: she said there are a lot of men around her, but she does not have that much special "feelings" 感觉 gan3 jue2. She always believes the word of "love". She won't act like most people "it's time to do so (date then get married)". She believes "fate". People asked her: don't you think it's too lonely? And when you get older, you might need a company, otherwise...? She answered: well, people were born alone, then will die alone. - I consider her answer really wise and philosophical. She's 167 cm, 34B-24-35, 31 or 32 now, still alone. If I use a traditional Chinese saying as a conclusion, then it will be: 可遇不可求 ke3 yu4 bu4 ke3 qiu2, meaning "may meet cannot ask". Chinese people use this saying describe love, marriage and relationship since ancient time. In short, Chinese people just believe the fate of love.

As for beauty, I believe the distance, mystery and semi-transparency will speak for itself. The complete nude is just way too much. China has countless ancient poetry to portray the beauty - implicit, indirect - such as "只可远观之,不可近亵之"。"犹抱琵琶半遮面,千呼万唤始出来"。 <<点绛唇>> "蹴罢秋千,起来慵整纤纤手。露浓花瘦,薄汗轻衣透。 见有人来,袜铲金钗溜,和羞走。倚门回首,却把青梅嗅"。 We will discuss traditional Chinese aesthetics later especially from dragon people's ancestry by variety of poems, articles, paintings, music, architectures, landscapes, customs ...
